Every apartment owner is required by law to register at the Hungarian Tax Authority (APEH) when realizing rental income from property in Hungary. Those who do not have a company but own the property as private persons must apply for a Tax ID. The tax on rental income is 17-25%, to be paid annually. Expenses may be offset against the rental income for private persons as well as companies.
